Parent Talk is a community-based organization helping families with young children connect, learn, play, and grow together. With that in mind, we offer you, our members, a seemingly endless array of programs and activities for kids and grown-ups, opportunities to give back to the community, communications and so much more. Additionally, you have access to retail and service providers’ discounts with area enrichment programs, retailers, gyms, and more.
People join Parent Talk for a variety of reasons. Many are new to the community and looking to connect with other parents of young children. Others are settled in the community yet eager to make new connections and participate in Parent Talk’s extensive members-only programming, including small-group events, special-interest clubs and outings, or want help finding the right playgroup and the ability to visit Parent Talk’s dedicated indoor play space.
Some join for the unbeatable financial benefits including free access to all Parent Talk lectures (a $40 value per lecture), free museum passes, plus numerous discounts to area businesses including 10% off YMCA family memberships.
Taking advantage of just one of these discounts more than pays for your Parent Talk membership. Whatever your reason, we appreciate your support and look forward to getting to know you in the months ahead!
An annual membership to Parent Talk has two options:
Basic Membership ($35 annual): Get access to Parent Talk member perks like free admission to lectures, access to events, adult groups (e.g., bookclubs, career moms), playgroups, and discounts, in addition to new programming and opportunities to connect that fit our current situation and social parameters. As an example, we are so proud to offer our upcoming fall lecture on race and equity virtually, plus a virtual opportunity to connect with other parents both during the event as well as after with the creation of an ongoing adult group dedicated to continuing the conversation. Given COVID, we no longer operate our playspace and museum passes remain on hold with the exception of the batch we purchased at the end of 2019 that will expire on or before December 31, 2020.
Supporting Membership ($100 annual): Everything that comes with the Basic level, plus a donation to help support our non-profit’s work in fostering a community where our children can thrive.
Through our own content-rich newsletter and blog, members receive real-time event announcements, expert advice, informative reading, ideas for children’s activities, a calendar of events, and more.
While Parent Talk communicates with members through a number of channels, our greatest aim is to enable members to communicate with each other. Get support, recommendations, tips, tools, tricks from directly from other members in Parent Talk’s Facebook Group.
Several times a year, Parent Talk invites members to participate in meaningful community service projects in the communities where we live and work.
Parent Talk is thrilled to partner with many local businesses and organizations to be able to offer substantial discounts to our members. From 10% off a family membership to the Charles River YMCA, to substantial discounts at numerous enrichment vendors, restaurants, retailers, and salons, Parent Talk’s annual membership fee can literally pay for itself in seconds.
Parent Talk hosts all kinds of fun, creative enrichment events for members all year long. Events for the child in all of us, such as: visits to the Circus, Backyard Bubbles and Pizza Making Parties, Elmo (need we say more?), LINX and MyGym playdates, and endless performances and concerts. Events for the social, information hungry grown ups: Parent Talk’s Annual Preschool Fair; Parent Talk’s Used Clothing, Toy & Equipment Sale; Casino Night; and Flicks on the Field. Combining hot parenting topics with renowned speakers and panels (Dr. Michael Thompson, Dr. Richard Ferber, Dr. Robert Brooks, Parenting on Track, to name a few…) mixed with just enough relaxed social time, Parent Talk has created one of the greatest member and community attractions. Parent Talk lectures are FREE for members. Here are just a few examples from the past year: Improving Your Child’s Sleep, Raising Boys, Kindergarten Readiness, Going Green, and Improving Sibling Relationships. View our Lecture Series.
