Introducing Parent Talk Matters Blog – Recipe Ideas, Arts & Crafts Projects and More!

We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and energy surrounding the launch of this new blog. And we’re so excited by the opportunities for communication through this new venue– the possibilities are endless!

Before we kick off the new blog with an exciting line-up of posts from talented members and local experts we wanted to give you a quick introduction to what the Parent Talk Matters blog is all about!
The blog is a result of the creativity, enthusiasm and dedication of many local moms and dads that help make Parent Talk tick.  It is the brainchild of our long-time newsletter editor, Lollie Weeks, and the blog promises to be just as valuable to our membership as her years of contribution to the Parent Talk Board – thank you, Lollie!!!
Our goal is to provide timely, exciting and helpful content for parents with young children. The blog is not exclusive to Parent Talk members but will be a public blog that we hope will help us bring new members into the organization. It will be moderated by the Parent Talk Blog Committee, the Co-Presidents and our Executive Director to ensure that the Rules of Engagement we’ve set forth are respected and everyone participating is able to enjoy their time here.
For aficionados and frequent readers of the Parent Talk Matters newsletter – have no fear!  You will find similar content here on the blog; we’ll be including posts from many of the renowned authors who join us throughout the year as part of our lecture series, and will include input from local experts and parents on topics like saving for your child’s education and how to figure out which preschool or summer camp is right for you.  You can also expect to find recipes for great new family suppers, ideas for arts and crafts to do with your kids, photos and recaps from many of the local family events and other exciting content from creative and in-the-know local parents.  Let us know if you would like to join in by submitting a post or idea, visit the Contact page or send us an email.

We want to celebrate the launch of the blog with a giveaway! One lucky reader will win either a free Parent Talk membership renewal, valued at $100. Or, you may choose a $75 gift card to Whole Foods.

In order to enter, please follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter below to sign up via email. A winner will be chosen on April 15th and notified via email. (Email addresses will not be made public.)  For additional entries you can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Contest is open to Parent Talk members, past, present and future.

In the end, our hope is the move to a blog format will make it easier for you to find the information you’re looking for, allow us to share more and share more often, and hear ideas from many of you too!
We’re always open for business so if you are up feeding your newborn at 3am or trying to wind down at the end of a long day outside and around town with the kids, stop in and see what’s new.
We’d love to have you!

Co-Presidents of Parent Talk and Needham moms, Kate Owens and Mary Richman, became involved in the organization as a way to meet other parents and give back to the community. Kate, her husband and two children have lived in Needham since 2007. She works part-time in reinsurance and enjoys spending time on the beach, running, and cooking. Mary, her husband and two children (and another one on the way!) also moved to Needham in 2007. Mary is a Director at School Family Media, a niche media company that supports parents with school-aged children.
